‘Watermelon boy’ : 10-year-old finds fame by Australian Cricket fans
An Australian kid earned cult status among cricket fans after he was taped eating an entire watermelon – including the skin – in Melbourne. Mitchell Schibeci, named “watermelon boy”, said he contrived the stunt to get his face on the game’s large screen.
Analysts at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) were stunned to see him eating into the organic product, skin and all, at Saturday’s game. The hashtag #watermelonboy trended on online networking in Australia.
Mitchell, 10, told the that eating the entire watermelon was harder than excepted. “It was significantly more diligent work than I suspected it would be… I simply continued eating and eating it,” he said.

Mitchell said he had been eating watermelon skin subsequent to the age of two. “I’ve been doing it for quite a while – I simply like the essence of it,” he said.
The clasp of Mitchell tucking into the watermelon was grabbed as ESPN’s Play of the Day, yet he hasn’t left the attention go to his head. “I’m not a real hero, I’m only an ordinary normal child,” Mitchell said.
