Union Health Ministry has come up with a new decision to relieve from public smoking. The Union Health Ministry has finally fixed a huge fine on public smokers. The general fine for smoking in public areas is Rs 200 as of now, while the Union Health Ministry has increased the fine to a lot of Rs 1000. This decision has been made by a committee headed by Additional Chief Secretary. The Union Ministry is going to publish the formal order soon regarding this issue.

According to the rule, if a man is discovered smoking in public places like buses, bus stands, railroad stations, movie theatres, libraries, clinics, government doctor’s facilities and so forth, he/she will be fined with Rs 200 punishment under Section 4 of the Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products Act 2003 (COTPA), either by a police workforce or by health authorities of the nearby regions or organization. “More and more violations continue to be reported from rural areas and other district headquarters. Regardless of signage and huge boards, smoking continues in public.
