British Comedian Stephen Fry has deleted his Twitter account after his furious reaction to those censuring a joke he made amid Sunday’s Bafta awards function.
The actor, who has hosting the event 2001, alluded to costume designer award winner Jenny Beavan’s appearance after she cleared out the stage, which created offence on the web. “Only one of the great cinematic costume designers would come to an awards ceremony dressed as a bag lady,” he joked.

After users tweeted him their abhorrence, he irately reacted in various overhauls, reminding people that Beavan is a dear friends of his and she knew about his intention. He tweeted : He wrote: “Will all you sanctimonious fuckers fuck the fuck off Jenny Beavan is a friend and joshing is legitimate. Christ I want to leave the planet”.

He called the choice “a huge help” and said he felt “free finally”.

In 2014, Fry quit the site saying it was “unsafe ” for him to tweet, including he was recording “in a spot whence I’ve been exhorted it is most secure not to tweet”. But, in 2009, he said he was going to leave after another user called his posts “boring”.
