On January 17, 2016, Rohith Chakravarathi Vemula, a Dalit research scholar at the University of Hyderabad in southern India, hanged himself from a ceiling fan in his friend’s hostel room. Two weeks earlier, Vemula and four of his friends, all Dalits and associated with a campus political group called the Ambedkar Students Association, had moved out of their hostel rooms after being suspended by the university administration.

Taking into the Actions, The students’ associations on Monday gave a require a far reaching bandh on February 3 for Educational institutions in backing of upsetting student of the University of Hyderabad (UoH) demanding justice for research scholar Rohith Vemula, who conferred suicide a month ago.
Representive of the Students’ Federation of India (SFI), All India Students’ Federation (AISF) and YSR Students’ Union here pledged to escalate their unsettling to press for action against Union Ministers Bandaru Dattateya and Smriti Irani and Vice-Chancellor P. Appa Rao, who went on leave.
