One such story is the story of Newton Knight, a former Confederate soldier who is the subject of the forthcoming Free State of Jones. The principal trailer for this film has been released, indicating Matthew McConaughey as the defector who drove a small community to withdraw from the Confederacy and announce their properties to be a free state.

Based on a true story, Free State of Jones takes after Knight as he understands the worthlessness of the war amid the clash of Corinth in 1862. The trailer gives the story something of a Braveheart feel, showcasing the action of the insubordination and indicating how poor agriculturists can confront the mistreatment of the rich landowners who control the armed force in the area.
