Government Launched Toll Free Number For Postal Complaints
Toll free number for postal complaints: The government, on Monday came with a new plan, i.e. Toll free number for postal complaints. The government, a month earlier launched Twitter Sewa for redressal of Postal grievances. “Prime Minister has asked all departments to set up and strengthen public grievances redressal system. Moving on these lines, we started Twitter Sewa on August 2 and now we have issued a toll free number 1924 to address postal complaints,” Communications Minister Manoj Sinha said after inaugurating the service.
Service for Postal Complaints initially works from 8 AM to 8 PM – says Sinha
The service will initially starts from 8 AM to 8 PM. Initially the services will be available in Hindi, English and Malayalam only. Later it will be taken to all the languages – says Communication Minister Sinha. “In three months we will start providing services in all languages on India Posts helpline number. Meanwhile, we will direct calls received in any other language to the concerned circle. If required, we will also expand operating hours from 12 to 24,” DoP Secretary BV Sudhakar said.
Complaints Received from toll free number will be registered at CCC portal
The complaints which are received through toll free number will be registered in Computerised Customer Care (CCC) portal. Once the complaint is registered, a 11 digit token number will be provided for those complaints at Dak Bhawan. Department of Posts (DoP)is 8th largest department in terms of number of complaints received. “We have been receiving average of 100 complaints in a day from across the country on Twitter Sewa and the resolution status is 97 per cent till date,” Sinha said. If the complaint is already registered, the status of the complaint will be informed to the applicant.
