India has chosen to set up a Laser Interferometer Gravitational-Wave Observatory (LIGO) where gravitational waves can be studied, Prime Minister Narendra Modi reported on Sunday.

In his monthly radio project Mann ki Baat, Modi said Indian researchers were likewise in the reasearch team that considered gravitational waves.The research center will be third of its kind on the planet after Hanford in Washington and Livingston in Louisiana, both in the US.

LIGO is a national facility for gravitational-wave research, giving chances to the more border scientific community to take part in detector development, perception, and information examination.
