The Income Tax Department said in an official statement that the searches were approved under Section 132 of the Income Tax Act as a confirmation gathering exercise. The I-T Department denied that the strikes had anything to do with the continuous hostile to poaching show at Eagleton resorts. I-T authorities asserted of recouping Rs 7.5 crore money from the minister’s properties, who has been taken to his home in Bengaluru from the resort by the duty purpose. “The timing of the search was decided well in advance. The events involving certain MLAs of another state being brought to Karnataka were unforeseen and unpredictable events,” the press release said.
It added that the “Minister being searched was staying at a resort near Bangalore where some MLAs from another state are put up. Hence the Minister’s room alone is being searched.”
