Bollywood’s King Khan has proved that he is indeed the ‘badshaah’ of the Hindi film industry with back to back super hit films. Every director wants to work with SRK, but few get a chance as he usually prefers working with friends. From DDLJ, to his new film Dilwale, Shah Rukh Khan has managed to entertain his fans with every coming movie. However, King Khan too missed out on a few movies that went on to become the greatest Bollywood hits.
We bring you few such blockbuster films that would have been into Shah Rukh Khan’s kitty if he had not rejected them.
#1 Munnabhai MBBS
Rajkumar Hirani has offered the movie to Shah Rukh Khan first, with Sanjay Dutt being approached for the role of Zaheer, the terminally ill patient. Fate, however had something else in mind and the rest, as they say, is history.
#2: 3 Idiots
After two Munnabhai films, when Rajkumar Hirani wanted to adapt Chetan Bhagat’s book Five Point Someone into a film, he again wanted SRK to play the character that later went to Aamir. But probably, the actor wasn’t much pleased with the script.
#3 Lagaan
After Aamir Khan refused to have anything to do with Lagaan, Ashutosh Gowarikar apparently went knocking on SRK’s door, who wasn’t too keen either. Gowariker made one more effort to convince Aamir to do his film and got lucky this time around.
#4 Kaho Na Pyaar Hai
Rakesh Roshan’s son wasn’t the first choice for Kaho Na Pyaar Hai – The script had been passed through SRK’s hands before it was handed down to Hrithik. The film was a box office blockbuster and made it to the Limca Book Of Records for winning the maximum number of awards in Bollywood.
# 5 Rang De Basanti
The classic Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra film was also first offered to Shahrukh, who wasn’t keen on doing the film. The film eventually landed at Aamir’s door and left him richer by a couple more Best Actor awards.
#6 Jodhaa Akbar
Not many know that Ashutosh Gowariker again approached SRK for Jodha Akbar but reportedly the epic historical drama didn’t impress the actor which made him reject the film. The movie was a hit, with many awards and nominations to its credit.
#7 Robot
Apparently the epic Rajnikanth wasn’t Tamil director Shankhar’s original choice for Robot; Shah Rukh was first offered the script, which he then turned down for reasons unknown. The film then went into Rajinikanth’s kitty and created records at the box office, winning several awards.
#8 Heyy Babyy
This comedy drama where Akshay Kumar played the role of Angel’s father was first offered to Shah Rukh Khan but he rejected it.
#9 Ek Tha Tiger
Kabir Khan’s 2012 action flick was first offered to SRK, who turned it down. The makers then approached Salman Khan, who happily came on board. It helped Salman continue his winning streak at the box office by adding another 100 crore grosser to his kitty.
